Roofing questions, answered.
-
It depends on the look and how weather-exposed the structure is. Natural Bali and African thatch give the most authentic tropical finish; synthetic Virothatch and One Thatch offer the same look with no maintenance and a long lifespan; and asphalt, ironwood and cedar shingles suit any roof shape where you want durable, low-maintenance cover. Tell us your structure and we'll recommend the best fit.
-
Natural thatch (Alang Alang and Cape Reed) delivers authentic texture and natural insulation. Synthetic thatch is UV-stabilised and maintenance free — it won't rot, shed, fade or attract pests, and carries a longer guaranteed lifespan, making it ideal for commercial and hard-to-access roofs.
-
With correct installation, all our roofing is built for a long service life. Synthetic thatch and shingles carry lifespans of 20+ years, and natural thatch has decades of proven performance. Lifespan depends on pitch, exposure and airflow — we can advise on your specific structure.
-
Yes. Bali thatch is 100% waterproof with correct installation, African thatch is 99.5% waterproof and wind-resistant, and both synthetic thatch and shingles are 100% waterproof when installed correctly. Correct roof pitch is critical to performance.

Yes — re-roofing tired structures is one of the most common jobs we supply.
-
All of our products are DIY-friendly — Bali thatch comes woven onto bamboo battens, African thatch and synthetic tiles clip, staple or nail onto existing structures, and shingles fix to a prepared roof. For larger or commercial jobs, we also have a network of trusted contractors.
-
Yes. One Thatch is available in a fire-rated option certified to ASTM E108, and our synthetic surface lining offers a fire-rated option on special order (POA) — ideal for councils, resorts and licensed venues.

All figures here (waterproof percentages, 10°C cooler, 20+ year lifespans, ASTM E108, showroom address) are pulled straight from your existing roofing and product pages, so nothing is invented. Want me to trim this to a tighter six-question set, or is the full ten good for the page?
